Yup, I made this zebra myself. Named him Zachary. He has traveled to art shows with me for years and is a great attention-getter! Folks see him from blocks away and HAVE to come and check it out!
I figure I should let you all know that I make these incredible wood cut-outs of animals, including pets! They’re [...]

Awhile ago, I did a graphite pencil drawing of a lounging polar bear and liked the image so much, I was forced to do an acrylic painting of that drawing. Although you can’t tell from this image, the polar bear’s fur in the painting is actually textured, and the foreground and background are irridescent and [...]

Remember back awhile to the horrible Australia fires, and the story of the fireman who graciously shared his water bottle with a little injured Koala Bear. That story inspired this graphite pencil drawing. I hope by now that little bear is able to relax and trust enough to look like the one in this drawing!

I’ve gotten lots of comments on the polar bear graphite pencil drawing I did awhile back, so today I made it available as a t-shirt over at Zazzle. http://www.zazzle.com/i_love_polar_bears_t_shirt-235574699636846190 Below is the image on the t-shirt, which comes in lots of colors and sizes. Check it out. Great gift for nature lovers, especially polar bear fans!

Oh sure, they’re darling! And…….what troublemakers. Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of two juvenile racoon siblings who camped out near the shed just waiting for the opportunity to raid the dog food dish! I knew they were there, watching, waiting patiently for the dogs to wander off. Eventually, I had to feed the dogs on [...]

Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of a tiny, motionless little white tail deer fawn we came across while hiking in the forest east of my home. It didn’t move a muscle! I thought for certain it would scamper off into the woods, but nope. Mama obviously taught it well! I snapped a few photos and [...]

It’s spring and it seems all the birds are celebrating. Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of a little sparrow who was perched outside my window singing his (or her) little heart out. I love waking up to the sounds of all the birds welcoming the day. We should all be so enthusiastic, don’t you think?

Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of a pair of Canadian Geese who live at the pond not far from my home. It used to be a real treat to see them, but in recent years they’ve become known as a nuisance bird at many of the local parks. They are very elegant birds, and yet, [...]

I may have to do a painting, in addition to this graphite pencil drawing, of an American Kestrel. They are gorgeous birds of prey with blue, orange, white and black feathers. Very striking.

These young saw-whet owls appear to need some time to grow into their magnificent adult feathers. I tried to capture their still “fuzzy” appearance in this graphite pencil drawing. Once fully grown, they will have very striking plummage, for sure.
