About Me

My name is Suzanne Schaefer, an empty-nester, an artist, a resident of the glorious Pacific Northwest. I’ve been painting and drawing since the age of 3. I swear you could lock me in a closet and I’d find some way to draw on the walls! I draw every single day just to stay sane.

I am mostly self-taught, taking only a few art classes in college. I flunked Art History and Bowling, mostly because I didn’t go to class.  HA. I spent almost 25 years as a free-lance architectural illustrator in the Denver, Colorado area working with custom home builders and realtors. Eventually, I was replaced by CAD computer programs and, sadly, few builders actually want hand-drawn illustrations any longer. It has to be ok because it has either “allowed me to” or “forced me to” return to the fine art disciplines I love.

This website is all about graphite pencil drawing. Drawing moments in my life, drawing life itself. It’s what I truly LOVE doing, and I want to share that passion with everyone! In addition to these drawings, I have many more paintings you can see at http://www.onewomansart.com and even purchase as giclee prints at http://www.fineartarmieca.com/profiles/suzanne-schaefer/html. It’s an incredible website and you should check it out for yourself. Another incredible website is Zazzle. I recently opened a store where you can purchase all kinds of things (from t-shirts to coffee mugs, magnets, greeting cards, calendars and more) featuring my artwork. That link is http://www.zazzle.com/zannie947

I also do commissioned work, including portraits, so please feel free to contact me at artsesue@hotmail.com if you’re looking for a specific piece of artwork. I try to accommodate all budgets with some piece of  original art.

I hope you enjoy all the drawings and come back often to join the conversation or just leave a comment about what things you’d like to see drawn.
