I love the way the cat’s fur is backlit in this graphite pencil drawing. Can’t you hear her softly purring? I posted a similar drawing, now filed under the pets category, a while ago. They’d make a pair to frame and hang together!

Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of a free spirited, howlin’ coyote. I read an article recently about the government’s all-out attack on these incredible creatures, calling them “nuisance predators” or something like that, allowing for government agents to shoot them from aircraft and use deadly cyanide guns to blast sodium cyanide into the animals’ mouths. I’ll do some [...]

Oddly enough, my calico cat, Zoe, befriended a family of squirrels living in the pine trees along the house. It was fun to watch them interact and play together. I did this graphite pencil drawing of one of the juvenile squirrels from a photo. Although they spend most of their time in the trees, they do [...]

I was truly heartbroken when the recent incident involving the chimpanzee happened. This graphite pencil drawing of a juvenile chimpanzee is in response to that event. I feel horrible for the woman who was attacked, and I feel horrible for the chimp as well. They were both victims. Simply tragic. UPDATE: May, 2011 My graphite [...]

Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of an American Bobcat. They are so gorgeous. I’m going to post the finished drawing along with a progressive composition, showing you how the drawing developed. Because I’m right handed, I always start my drawings on the upper left hand side. Graphite smears, so I work down and across the [...]

There’s no drawing to go with this post, I’m still figuring out how to promote the blog and am therefore following instructions sent to me by technorati.com. (<a href=”http://technorati.com/claim/29t7sz94hi” rel=”me”>Technorati Profile</a>) Forgive my newbie status and please come back often for more drawings. Or leave me a comment about current drawings and ones you might [...]

I really do love roses, but only as subject matter for graphite pencil drawings or paintings. Growing them is far too tricky (and time consuming) for me. Heck, I do well to get my lawn mowed during the summer! I’d rather be drawing! UPDATE: May, 2011 My graphite images are now available as signed art [...]

Here’s a graphite pencil drawing of a spring blossom for you. I actually had to do something to remind myself spring is right around the corner…….there is 5 inches of snow on my deck today! Argh. UPDATE: May, 2011 My graphite images are now available as signed art prints at my etsy store! http://www.etsy.com/shop/nolimitsart If [...]

I did this graphite pencil drawing as a “thank you” for my neighbor who helped me shovel snow this winter. He owns Quinn, a gorgeous Weimaranar. She’s got a wonderful personality, is very well trained and seems to love everyone. UPDATE: May, 2011 My graphite images are now available as signed art prints at my [...]
