Graphite Pencil Drawing: The Rooster Rules the Barnyard

This graphite pencil drawing has pariticular meaning to me. Years ago I lived on a 5 acre ranchette and among the residents were a couple of really obnoxious geese. They honestly were better watch dogs than the dogs were and in fact, had the mailman so frightened, he refused to get out of the mail truck to deliver the mail. As agressive as they were, though, one little rooster wasn’t having any of their stuff, and even though he wasn’t agressive or protective, he was absolutely determined to beat them both to the feeding trough every morning. I think it was his way of saying “Hey, back off. Don’t mess with me, you bullies.”
